Gordon Ariel

Ariel Gordon is a Winnipeg-based writer and editor. In spring 2010, Palimpsest Press published her first full-length poetry collection, Hump. She is the 2010 recipient of the John Hirsch Award for Most Promising Writer and the 2011 Aqua Books Lansdowne Prize for Poetry / Le Prix Lansdowne du poesie. How to Prepare for Flooding (JackPine Press), a collaboration with designer Julia Michaud, will be launched in fall 2011. When not being bookish, Ariel likes tromping through the woods and taking macro photographs of mushrooms.
Awards
I (rather shockingly) won the John Hirsch Award for Most Promising Manitoba Writer at the 2010 Manitoba Book Awards.
I've been granted residencies at the Wallace Stegner House (Eastend, SK, awarded by the Eastend Arts Council) and the Patricia Blondal Memorial Individual Summer Retreat (Arnes, MB, awarded by the Manitoba Writers' Guild).
I was also a fellow at The International Retreat for Writers at Hawthornden Castle in Edinburgh, Scotland in 2005.
