Miriam Waddington

Miriam Waddington, a Life Member of the League of Canadian Poets, was born in Winnipeg on December 23, 1917. She has a B.A. from the University of Toronto, a Diploma and M.A. from the School of Social Work, and an M.S.W. from the University of Pennsylvania. During the 1940s and 1950s she was a caseworker in child guidance centres, hospitals, prisons, family and children's agencies in Toronto and Montreal, and later taught English Literature at York University. She was the Canada Council Exchange Poet to Wales in 1980, poetry editor of Poetry Toronto from 1971 to 1980, writerinresidence at the Windsor Public Library in 1983 and at the University of Ottawa in 1984. Her work has been published in a number of European countries and in South America, and has been broadcast in New Zealand and Australia.
