Nellie P. Stowbridge

Nellie P. (nee Kennedy) Stowbridge was born in Newfounland's oldest outports: Hibb's Cove, Port de Grave where yarns of pirates and buried treasure still stir the air. her education originated in a one room school and she later taught in one.
The author and her husband, Clarence, have two children, daughter, Janalee Amelia, and son, Michael Kennedy and a grandchild, Nicholas James Gaudon, the first great-grandchild in the Kennedy and Stowbridge line.
Nellie and Clarence lodge in Pasadena, Newfoundland's crown of the Humber Valley where she is working on several writing projects.
She is the author of a collection of short stories, Widdershins Stories of a Fisherman's Daughter, a book of poetry, Shadows of the Heart, and tri-author of Doors Held Ajar. She has also contributed to several anthologies. Her award-winning letter/essay to Canada, 2117 is being taught as part of an English Curriculum at Minsk State Linguistic University.

Sixteen Newfoundland and Labrador Arts & Letters Awards in essays, poetry, stories and dramatic script from 1982-1999.
Canadian Writer's Journal Award 1996 Poetry Competition (First Place in free verse category).
Canada's "Stamp of Approval" Award in 1992.
