Charles Hugh Mountford

Charles Hugh Mountford

Charles Hugh Mountford was born in Fort William, Ontario, before it became part of Thunder Bay, and is still keenly interested in happenings there. He attended the University of Western Ontario (MA, English), and the University of London where he is a dissertation away from a PhD in Librarianship. He speaks, reads, and writes French and Persian and is working (very slowly), on translations of poetry from those languages. He has written three opera librettos on Canadian themes (Voice Of An Angel, about the lieder singer, John Boyden, A Stronger Thought Of Love, about the Donnelleys of Lucan and Henry Hudson, about the explorer Henry Hudson). All of these operas have had productions in Stratford. He and his wife, Ruth, currently divide their time between Stratford and Quebec City.
