Elizabeth Greene came to Canada in 1965 to do graduate work in Medieval Studies at the University of Toronto. Until 2007, she taught English at Queen's University, where she originated courses on Women Writers and Contemporary Canadian Women Writers. She also helped found Women's Studies and was instrumental in establishing courses in Creative Writing. She has published fiction in Quarry, Descant, Room of One's Own; creative non-fiction in Prairie Fire, First Writes, Double Lives and the Dropped Threads 3 website. She began publishing poetry in 2003. Her first book is The Iron Shoes (Hidden Brook Press).
She has also edited and co-edited five books, including We Who Can Fly:
Poems, Essays and Memories in Honour of Adele Wiseman (Cormorant, 1997)
and Common Magic: The Book of the New (Artful Codger Press, 2008).
